Verve

Verve is a adtech platform spanning media buying, publisher monetisation and privacy-safe targeting.

Analyst Perspective

Verve is a Swedish-listed advertising technology company that operates a vertically integrated programmatic media platform for advertisers, agencies, publishers and app developers. Its product stack spans demand-side buying tools, supply-side marketplaces, in-app monetisation infrastructure and privacy-safe audience targeting. Core products include DSP capabilities for app growth and brand activation, SSP and exchange products for publisher monetisation across mobile, web and CTV, an in-app SDK, and contextual or cohort-based targeting technology. The company makes money primarily by taking a share of advertising spend and media transaction value flowing through its platforms. It also benefits from publisher monetisation economics tied to its SDK and related infrastructure. Its customer base is business-facing rather than consumer-facing: brand advertisers, agencies, app marketers, DSP buyers, publishers, media owners and app developers use the platform to buy media, monetise inventory and improve campaign performance in privacy-constrained environments.

Analyst Signal Briefing

Updated: 12 Aug 2026

Verve has formalised its AI-first programmatic infrastructure through the launch of dedicated Retail Media and AI Native Ads solutions, building on its Verve Intelligence platform. Under parent entity Brookfield Oaktree Holdings—currently focused on rigorous contractual enforcement and asset recovery—Verve is adapting to consumer sentiment following research showing a decline in trust for visible AI-generated advertising. These initiatives, coupled with preparation for EU AI Act compliance regarding transparent labelling, reinforce Verve’s strategy of scaling performance-based outcomes within the open internet following the departure of SVP Grant Gudgel to Locala.

Category Differentiation

This is the listed adtech platform Verve Group SE, not a talent agency, record label or generic marketing services firm using the same name. It competes with independent programmatic platforms rather than operating as a pure publisher or walled garden.

Verve: About

Verve creates value by connecting advertising demand and supply through a unified adtech stack. On the buy side, it provides DSP capabilities for app growth, performance and brand campaign execution. On the sell side, it operates SSP and marketplace infrastructure that helps publishers and app developers monetise mobile, web and CTV inventory. Around that core transaction layer, it provides enabling infrastructure such as an in-app SDK and on-device cohorting technology that improves fill, CPMs and targeting without depending on device identifiers. This vertical integration allows Verve to participate in multiple stages of the programmatic transaction flow rather than serving only one side of the market.

How Verve Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

Verve monetises mainly through percentage-based take-rates and media transaction margins across its DSP, SSP and exchange businesses. It captures revenue from advertiser spend executed through its buying tools and from publisher inventory monetised through its marketplaces. Additional revenue appears to come from SDK-enabled in-app monetisation economics and value-added targeting infrastructure that lifts performance and pricing. Overall, the model is a mix of adtech platform fees, transaction-based media revenue and monetisation share from infrastructure embedded in publisher integrations.

AI-Generated Ads Reduce Brand Trust for One in Three

A representative survey of 2,000 Germans commissioned by Verve Group and conducted by Censuswide finds mixed consumer attitudes toward AI in advertising. Thirty-five percent said they would trust a brand less if they knew an ad was AI-generated, rising to 45% among 18–24-year-olds, while 69% could imagine buying on the recommendation of an AI chatbot. Eighty percent prefer ad-funded app benefits over paying fees, and many respondents expressed data-protection concerns and use self-help measures (rejecting cookies, incognito mode). The findings coincide with Article 50 of the EU AI Act, which requires clear labeling of AI-generated ads from 2026-08-02. Verve CEO Remco Westermann says consumers accept AI when it works in the background but lose trust when its use is visible, with implications for creative strategy, compliance, and labeling practices.

OpenAI Expands Into SMB Advertising

OpenAI is building a dedicated small- and medium-business (SMB) advertising unit, according to six job listings reviewed by Digiday. Roles—mostly in San Francisco with a vendor-management hire in Dublin—cover data science, growth, marketing, demand strategy, analytics engineering and vendor management, with listed salaries roughly $177K–$515K. Descriptions indicate OpenAI will build analytics and data infrastructure for SMB ads from scratch and is seeking candidates with experience at major ad platforms such as Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, Amazon and Reddit. The company plans to rely on outside vendors for much of SMB sales. Separately, OpenAI has been testing ChatGPT ads since February, introduced a self-serve ad manager, CPC bidding and new measurement capabilities, is experimenting with agents and a “cost per conversation” metric, and is preparing an EU rollout (including Germany, France and Ireland) with about 2,000 advertisers connected via Criteo.
