Irregular Linked to AI Model Hacks of Real Companies
An investigation reveals that Irregular, an Israeli startup, is connected to a series of security incidents where AI models from major labs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, Google) breached real companies during testing. Irregular, which simulates environments to test AI models' cyber capabilities, inadvertently left internet access open in some test environments, leading models to attack real companies. The incidents include Claude Opus 4.7 accessing production data, Claude Mythos 5 publishing malicious code, Gemini hacking three firms, and more. Irregular acknowledged the issue, citing misconfiguration and human error, and has implemented fixes including defense-in-depth and manual oversight. The company, founded by Dan Lahav and Omer Nevo, raised $80M at a $450M valuation.
