Twitch to Use Streamers' Content for Amazon AI Training
Twitch (owned by Amazon) now allows creators' channel content by default to be used to train Amazon’s generative AI models unless creators disable a new "Training for Generative AI" opt-out toggle under Channel Settings > Security & Privacy. The policy covers live streams, VODs, clips, chat messages, channel images, and channel text; chat messages posted in other channels remain governed by those channel owners' settings. Twitch says it cannot confirm what data Amazon previously used, while Amazon asserts the data will not be resold and that training follows privacy regulations and internal guidelines. The default opt-out approach prompted strong creator backlash (amplified on Reddit); Twitch leadership addressed concerns in a livestream and argued an opt-in model would likely have low participation.
