HackerRank launches AI interviewer Chakra
HackerRank, a platform for assessing and hiring developers, is making its AI interviewer, Chakra, generally available after a six-month beta. Chakra conducts interviews, observes candidates as they work, and evaluates their answers and problem-solving process. The AI agent combines recruiter, take-home, and follow-up interviews into one session, and includes an AI assistant that candidates can use. HackerRank reports that Chakra has conducted over 500,000 interviews during testing, with companies such as Snowflake, Snorkel, and Capgemini using it. The startup aims to measure signals like critical thinking and 'AI fluency' rather than just correct answers. HackerRank claims that giving candidates access to AI reduces suspicious activity, with flags 70-80% lower than in traditional assessments. The technology is designed to score candidates but leaves final hiring decisions to humans.
