Meltwater

Meltwater is a b2B media intelligence and social analytics software platform.

Analyst Perspective

Meltwater is a B2B software provider offering a suite of media intelligence, social listening, PR workflow, consumer intelligence, influencer marketing, sales intelligence, and data integration products. Its core value proposition is to aggregate large volumes of news, social, broadcast, podcast, and online data into a unified platform that helps organisations monitor brand perception, analyse conversations, identify trends, manage outreach, and automate reporting. The company makes money through enterprise SaaS subscriptions with customised contracts rather than public fixed pricing. Its direct customers are business teams such as communications, PR, marketing, social, consumer insights, sales, analytics, and IT. The commercial model appears to be modular, with customers purchasing bundles and add-ons based on data coverage, monitored volume, user seats, integrations, and support requirements.

Analyst Signal Briefing

Updated: 18 Aug 2026

Meltwater is expanding its narrative intelligence and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) capabilities through its partnership with Marketbridge, with a full B2B integrated solution scheduled for launch in Q4 2026. The firm continues to provide measurement frameworks for major sports entities like NASCAR and recently analysed B2B World Cup partner performance, identifying LinkedIn as driving over 90% of B2B engagement. These initiatives, alongside its leadership refresh and PRWeek Global Award, reinforce Meltwater's focus on quantifying brand impact across machine-driven and social environments.

Category Differentiation

Meltwater is not a media publisher, ad network, or consumer social platform. It is a B2B intelligence software vendor focused on monitoring, analytics, PR workflows, influencer management, and enterprise data access.

Meltwater: About

Meltwater operates a multi-product B2B SaaS model built around proprietary aggregation, monitoring, analytics, and workflow software. It creates value by collecting media and social data at scale, structuring it into usable intelligence, and embedding that intelligence into adjacent business workflows such as PR outreach, influencer management, consumer insights, sales prospecting, and API-driven data delivery. The platform model supports expansion from a core monitoring use case into broader enterprise subscriptions across multiple teams.

How Meltwater Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

Meltwater uses a subscription-based SaaS monetisation model with negotiated enterprise pricing. Revenue is generated through modular product licences for media intelligence, social listening, media relations, consumer intelligence, influencer marketing, sales intelligence, AI-enhanced analytics, and API/data integration. Contracts are tailored based on data source coverage, geography, monitored content volume, number of users, integrations, and support or premium service requirements, with enterprise upsell and cross-sell central to account growth.

Which B2B Brand 'Won' the World Cup?

The Drum asked social listening firm Meltwater to analyse seven B2B World Cup partners across three social metrics: mentions (loud), engagement (liked) and estimated reach (seen). Results diverged: Lenovo led in mentions (~8,700), Aramco led in engagement (~13.2m) and reach (driven largely by FIFA channels), while Verizon captured moment-driven attention. The piece highlights owned vs earned media, the dominance of LinkedIn (over 90% of B2B engagement), one-off spikes driven by celebrity posts or single assets for smaller partners, and limitations of social listening (e.g., aggregated sentiment masking negative Reddit threads). The conclusion: no single social-metric winner — each metric crowns a different brand and social listening alone cannot prove business outcomes.

WhatsApp adds automatic group greeting messages

WhatsApp is testing an automatic greeting-message feature for group chats that allows group administrators to configure an optional welcome message sent automatically to new members. The message appears as an “Automatic Greeting” bubble visible only to the new member and can be customized; the option is disabled by default. WABetaInfo discovered traces of the feature first in an Android beta and later in an iOS TestFlight build, but the feature remains in development and is not yet available to beta testers. The report cites WhatsApp’s earlier group message-history feature (announced in February) and usage data showing WhatsApp’s wide adoption in Germany. No official public rollout date has been announced.

Marketbridge and Meltwater partner on B2B narrative GEO

Marketbridge and Meltwater have formed a partnership to integrate narrative intelligence and generative engine optimization (GEO) into B2B go-to-market planning. Meltwater will provide narrative and GEO intelligence while Marketbridge will fold those insights into its go-to-market intelligence, strategy, content workflows and consulting. Some joint capabilities are already live for clients, with a fuller integrated solution expected in Q4 2026. Executives say the collaboration aims to help marketers understand how large language models (LLMs) and live conversations are reshaping buying journeys, measure machine impact on pipeline, and adapt creative and messaging to what models and communities surface about brands.
