InMobi

InMobi is a mobile-first ad tech platform for programmatic advertising and app monetisation.

Analyst Perspective

InMobi is an Indian mobile-first advertising technology company that operates programmatic media buying and monetisation infrastructure for advertisers, app marketers, developers and publishers. Its core offering is a DSP and broader advertising platform that gives buyers access to mobile in-app inventory across exchanges, while also supporting supply-side monetisation and campaign optimisation. The company makes money primarily from a take-rate on advertising spend and revenue share from monetised inventory. Beyond its core ad tech business, InMobi also owns consumer-facing properties such as Glance and 1Weather, which provide additional ad inventory, engagement surfaces and first-party data. This gives the group a hybrid model: infrastructure revenue from ad transactions plus ad-supported monetisation from owned audience products. Customers directly paying InMobi are mainly brands, advertisers, agencies, app marketers and publishers rather than end consumers.

Analyst Signal Briefing

Updated: 15 Aug 2026

InMobi has advanced its agentic advertising ecosystem by launching a conversational AI agent for its Buyer Hub and partnering with Scope3 to deploy the industry’s first agentic seller for Glance inventory. These developments, which follow the adoption of the IAB’s Agentic Mobile standard, complement the FRAME Attention suite's performance benchmarks. While expanding its Americas leadership through the appointment of Ashim Sen, InMobi remains under scrutiny; a recent Electronic Frontier Foundation report identified its SDKs for transmitting precise user location data to third parties via real-time auctions.

Category Differentiation

This company is not just a single mobile ad network or a pure consumer app publisher; it operates a broader mobile advertising platform with DSP and monetisation capabilities. It should also be distinguished from standalone measurement vendors, since measurement is only one adjacent capability within the wider group.

InMobi: About

InMobi runs a hybrid ad tech and media model. On the demand side, it provides programmatic buying tools that let advertisers and app marketers purchase mobile inventory across exchanges. On the supply side, it helps publishers and app developers monetise in-app inventory. It also owns consumer media surfaces, which generate proprietary inventory and data that can improve monetisation and targeting. Value is created by aggregating mobile demand and supply, improving campaign performance, and monetising both partner and owned inventory.

How InMobi Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

InMobi primarily monetises through programmatic advertising take-rates on media spend flowing through its DSP and exchange-related infrastructure. Campaigns are commonly priced on CPM, CPC or CPA terms depending on the objective. It also earns publisher-side monetisation revenue through revenue-sharing arrangements on in-app ad impressions. In addition, its owned consumer surfaces such as Glance and 1Weather generate ad-supported revenue from selling inventory and using first-party data to improve targeting and yield.

Android SDKs may leak users' precise location to advertisers

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) analyzed Android apps and found many third‑party advertising SDKs automatically inherit host app GPS permissions and, by default, capture and transmit precise location coordinates to ad networks and data brokers—often via real‑time auctions. Using network-traffic analysis and tools such as Exodus Privacy, researchers observed exact geographic coordinates being sent and named vendors including InMobi and Huawei. The report identified apps with a combined 60 million downloads and notes SDK providers claim reach across billions of users via tens of thousands of apps. Play Store privacy disclosures frequently fail to reveal this third‑party sharing, and developers may be unaware because disabling SDKs' default collection requires explicit code changes and documentation is unclear. EFF warns these sold location datasets pose serious privacy risks and calls for better developer practices and regulatory safeguards.

InMobi Launches FRAME Attention; 3.5x YouTube

InMobi Advertising launched FRAME Attention, a certified high-attention media product for Mobile In-App Video and Connected TV (CTV), validated by Lumen Research. Offered globally via Deals and IO as part of the FRAME Ad Experience suite, it guarantees a minimum Attention Per Mille (APM) floor of 8,000, supports third-party measurement (Lumen, Adelaide), and is available to brand advertisers and agencies. Independent testing found InMobi’s mobile in-app video delivered 3.5× the attentive seconds versus a YouTube-equivalent benchmark, while CTV inventory reached 9,593 APM — 31% above a 7,286 streaming benchmark. A Cint-measured study across four million impressions reported a 67.4% lift in ad recall and a 16.5% lift in brand awareness. The product prioritizes attentive seconds over simple viewability to help advertisers optimize for attention-quality impressions and is available across InMobi’s mobile, desktop and CTV supply, including Glance properties.
