Prime Video Prepares for Life After 'Maxton Hall'
Prime Video will end its hit German series Maxton Hall with a final third season airing in December and is expanding its German originals slate. The streamer announced a new six‑part New‑Adult series (working title "Superior") produced by Swiss Zodiac Pictures in partnership with MMC Zodiac; main cast includes Zoe Fürmann, Jonathan Kriener, Kjell Brutscheidt, Lukas von Horbatschewsky, Jule Hermann and Manal Raga a Sabit. Adrian Spring is the creator and head writer; Jessica Hefti, Lukas Hobi and Reto Schaerli are listed as executive producers and Lennart Lenzing as producer. Prime Video also announced a prominently cast feature film (working title "Morgen ist jetzt"), a German remake of the Spanish film Mañana es hoy, produced by W&B Television and featuring Moritz Bleibtreu and Jördis Triebel. Filming for the film recently finished in Jesolo and Munich.
Prime Video's programming announcements expand its German originals and pipeline following a major local hit; relevant to CTV content strategies and future audience retention but not industry‑shifting.

Prime Video to Release Final Season of 'Maxton Hall' in December
Amazon's Prime Video has officially announced that the third and final season of its hit German original series, 'Maxton Hall - Die Welt zwischen uns,' will premiere on December 9. Produced by UFA Fiction, the final season is based on 'Save Us,' the third novel in Mona Kasten's bestselling trilogy. The series stands as Prime Video's most successful international scripted original to date, with its previous season reaching the top spot on Prime Video charts in approximately 100 countries during its debut week, including Germany, the US, and the UK.
Prime Video Unveils 2026/27 German Originals Slate
At a Berlin event, Prime Video unveiled its 2026/27 German originals slate, emphasizing continuity. The streamer now reaches over 17 million monthly ad-supported viewers. Highlights include the Gaumont-produced adaptation of Lilly Lucas's 'This Could Be Love'; the eighth season of 'LOL: Last One Laughing' around Easter 2027 and season two of 'LOL Next,' renewed before its first season aired; and the third and final 'Maxton Hall' season, premiering December 9. New titles span 'Perfekt Zusammen?!' with Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka, 'Drive – The Pretenders,' 'Queen Silvia' with Sat.1, Dennis Gansel's 'The Prototype,' and 'Holey Moley – Minigolf Extreme.' Prime Video's German Originals Show Mixed AGF Results
Amazon announced in spring 2024 it would sharply increase German originals for Prime Video. Since Prime Video began participating in AGF audience measurement in November, seven months of AGF data show a mixed picture: some Prime Video productions become major streaming hits in Germany while many fall into the middle range and some fail to appear in AGF rankings. Standouts include Maxton Hall (S2) with >4.6 million starts for episode 1 in Germany and weekly net reach peaks above 2 million, US imports like Off Campus with >4.7 million starts, and the German film Der Tiger with >3 million starts in January. Reality and unscripted formats show varied performance (The 50 peaked ~800k weekly net reach; 7 vs. Wild ~500k). Amazon does not allow AGF to measure its live sports; Amazon-reported data put a PSG–Bayern match at over five million households.
