Ozone
Ozone is a premium publisher marketplace for programmatic advertising and audience activation.
Analyst Perspective
Ozone is a UK-based advertising technology company operating a programmatic marketplace for premium publisher inventory. Its core product is an audience connection platform that gives advertisers and media agencies a single buying point for digital ad space across a network of participating publishers, while also providing publishers with monetisation, reporting and administrative tools. The company positions itself around publisher control, consented data usage, brand-safe environments and an alternative route to audience reach outside the largest walled gardens. The business makes money primarily from programmatic advertising transactions, taking a share of media spend or monetisation margin on inventory sold through its platform. It also generates revenue from managed creative production through Studiozone and from premium format execution and audience intelligence capabilities layered onto campaigns. Its direct customers are advertisers, media agencies and premium publishers rather than end consumers.
Analyst Signal Briefing
Updated: 18 Aug 2026Ozone is scaling its monetisation technology through its partnership with Content Ignite to mitigate a 41 per cent contraction in UK programmatic ad supply caused by AI-search. Recent analysis shows that while inventory volumes have decreased, UK eCPMs rose by 30 per cent in June 2026, driven by a shift toward premium, first-party data. This positioning reinforces Ozone’s role in Omnicom’s strategy to shorten media supply chains and aligns with parent News UK’s focus on leveraging publisher-owned ad tech to maintain revenue stability against generative AI distribution changes.

Key insights about Ozone
Category Differentiation
This is the UK advertising technology company Ozone Project, not a general air purification, telecoms or software company using the Ozone name. It operates a premium publisher advertising marketplace rather than a consumer media brand or standalone DSP.
Ozone: About
Ozone aggregates digital advertising inventory from premium publishers into a unified marketplace and enables advertisers and agencies to buy that inventory programmatically. It creates value by combining scaled publisher supply, consent-based audience data, identity mapping, campaign activation and reporting in one platform. For publishers, it aims to improve monetisation and control; for buyers, it offers brand-safe reach, cross-publisher targeting and operational simplicity versus fragmented direct deals.
How Ozone Works & Monetises
Business model analysis and core revenue streams
The company monetises mainly through percentage take-rates or marketplace margins on programmatic media transactions executed across its publisher alliance. Secondary revenue comes from managed creative production, premium ad formats and campaign support services. Additional value-based monetisation likely comes from consented audience intelligence and targeting capabilities embedded in campaign execution, alongside publisher revenue-sharing based on inventory and audience contribution.

Ozone has partnered with publisher monetisation platform Content Ignite to open Ozone’s demand and monetisation technology to Content Ignite’s publisher partners. Ozone, originally formed as The Ozone Project in 2018 by The Guardian, News UK, The Telegraph and Reach, has expanded to include other publishers such as Mail Metro Media and The Independent. Content Ignite’s Fusion ad tech platform is used by more than 400 publishers — including The Observer, Global, Haymarket, The Weather Channel and PinkNews — whose publishers will now gain access to Ozone’s prebid server capability. Ozone says the move aims to give specialist and independent publishers access to monetisation technology typically available to larger publishers, with Ozone’s CTO Danny Spears highlighting the strategic importance of broader access to such technology.
