Windows 10 still gets new developer features
Microsoft continues to deliver certain features to Windows 10 users aimed at developers. Although official mainstream support ended on October 14, 2025, Microsoft extended its ESU (Extended Security Updates) program and — in a revised blog post — now runs ESU until October 12, 2027. The Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) remains supported on Windows 10; WSL Containers are available in a preview form and require Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or newer. Craig Loewen, the WSL product manager at Microsoft, confirmed parity of WSL functionality between Windows 10 and Windows 11, while the containers feature is described as experimental and currently in preview.
