WhatsApp to Add Birthday Reminder Feature

WhatsApp is developing a birthday reminder feature that will notify users when contacts have birthdays and display a dedicated Birthdays view listing upcoming dates. The feature reads birthdates from the device's phone contacts — not from WhatsApp registration data — so users must store birthdays in their address book for them to appear. By relying on local contact entries, the design keeps birthday data primarily on users' devices and lets people omit or remove birthdays from contacts if they prefer they not show in WhatsApp. Meta has implemented the feature for Android and, after completing internal tests, plans to release it to the app's beta channel next. No firm public timetable has been announced, but a beta rollout is expected soon following internal validation.
