Amazon unveils new Alexa tablets with AI and Google Play
Amazon has introduced a new line of Alexa Tablets, replacing Fire OS with full Android and direct access to Google Play Store, eliminating the need for sideloading. The lineup includes the 12-inch Pro model, 11-inch, 8-inch, and Kids editions. The Pro features an optional matte screen developed with Corning, and all integrate Alexa, including the optional Alexa+ subscription that can analyze screen content and assist with tasks. Prices start at $229.99 (€229.99), with the Pro at $499.99/€499.99 (or $559.99/€559.99 for matte). The switch to Android was enabled by improvements like resizable windows and memory management. Sales begin on October 8 in North America, with European availability from October 19. Existing Fire Tablets will continue to receive support.
