Universal Quantum Raises Record $100M Series A
Universal Quantum, a University of Sussex spinout founded in 2018, has raised $100 million in a Series A funding round, described as the largest Series A for a UK-headquartered quantum firm. The company focuses on building fault-tolerant quantum computers with millions of error-corrected qubits. The round was co-led by DCVC and Firgun Ventures, with participation from EDBI, Integral GlobalTech, and others. Funds will accelerate global expansion in the US, Japan, and Germany, and support technology development. The company has contracts with the German government and partnerships with Rolls-Royce. Universal Quantum's technology includes the iQPU chip and UQConnect interconnect, aiming for scalable, room-temperature quantum computing.
