Principal Engineer

Architect the next-generation network evolution for Xumo's streaming and ad delivery platform, focusing on scalability, low-latency, and integration of emerging technologies. Lead technical strategy and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust network performance.

This role focuses on building and scaling the platform infrastructure that powers Apostra's advertising technology for humans and AI agents. The engineer will work on core systems, ensuring reliability and performance across distributed environments. The tech stack is not specified, but the role is senior-level and remote within the US and Canada.

Designs and scales microservices for ad serving and real-time bidding, optimizing database queries and API latency to ensure reliability for a high-throughput multi-tenant platform.

Own post-sales success for premium OTT customers, acting as trusted technical advisor for broadcasters, streamers, OEMs, and app developers. Guide complex integrations, resolve SSAI and video workflow issues, and drive optimization across HLS, MPEG-DASH, and emerging protocols. Requires 5+ years in streaming/ad tech, hands-on video workflow expertise, and strong communication skills.

Serve as subject matter expert on streaming infrastructure, managing client integrations and optimizing streaming operations. Set up streams, integrate ad stacks, and establish insertion protocols. Act as primary technical contact for clients, troubleshoot issues, and liaise with internal engineering teams.

Architect and develop advanced video processing and encoding solutions for OTT streaming platform. Lead design decisions using FFmpeg libraries, optimize encoding configurations, and champion HLS/MPEG-DASH technologies. Provide thought leadership and mentorship, evaluate emerging codecs like AV1.
