Analyst Perspective

Samsung TV Plus is the free ad-supported streaming television service operated by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. It distributes live FAST channels and on-demand video across Samsung Smart TVs, Galaxy devices and selected connected screens. The service functions as a publisher-owned streaming platform with global consumer reach and embedded distribution inside Samsung’s device ecosystem. The business makes money through advertising rather than subscriptions. Samsung sells video and display inventory across Samsung TV Plus and related Samsung-owned properties using direct sales, programmatic access and its self-serve Samsung Ad Manager platform. Its paying customers are advertisers, brands and media agencies that want connected TV and cross-device reach using Samsung’s first-party device and viewing data.

Samsung TV Plus is advancing its monetisation and commerce capabilities through a strategic integration with Amazon Ads, enabling remote-activated shoppable video and interactive ad formats. To scale its premium inventory, Samsung Ads has introduced programmatic access to Smart TV home-screen placements via The Trade Desk and Google DV360. Category Differentiation

This is Samsung’s FAST streaming and advertising business, not Samsung Electronics’ full hardware manufacturing operation. It is also not a standalone independent streaming company separate from Samsung Electronics.

Samsung TV Plus: About

The company operates an ad-funded streaming media model inside Samsung’s hardware ecosystem. It attracts consumer attention with free live and on-demand content, then converts that audience into advertising inventory sold to brands and agencies. Value creation comes from combining owned media supply, pre-installed device distribution, first-party viewing data and self-serve or programmatic media buying tools within Samsung’s wider advertising stack.

How Samsung TV Plus Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

Samsung TV Plus uses an advertising-funded AVOD and FAST model. Revenue is generated primarily from selling video ad inventory across live channels and on-demand content, typically on CPM-based media pricing. Samsung expands this through direct sales, programmatic buying, and self-serve access via Samsung Ad Manager, alongside performance and shoppable ad products across Samsung-owned media environments.

Fox to Control >50% of Free Ad‑Supported Streaming

Fox Corporation is acquiring Roku for $22 billion and will combine Roku’s distribution (The Roku Channel) with its existing Tubi service. Analysts and the article’s cited estimates say the combined business would control more than 50% of free ad‑supported streaming consumption in the United States across metrics such as viewing hours, active users, and advertising inventory. The combined reach is described as well over 100 million monthly active users. Cord Cutters News survey results cited show The Roku Channel at 31.1% preference, Pluto TV at 24.2%, and Tubi at 23.8%. The deal is framed as strengthening first‑party data, targeted advertising and ad inventory scale for Fox, while raising potential antitrust scrutiny and competitive concerns for smaller free streaming providers.

Samsung TV Plus Enables Remote Shopping with Amazon Ads

Samsung TV Plus has added Amazon Ads’ remote-enabled video ad technology to its FAST streaming service, allowing viewers to shop directly from their remotes. Brands can pair Samsung TV Plus ads with Amazon browsing, streaming and shopping signals to measure engagement and drive purchases; initial launch partners include Boiron USA, Logitech, PLAION, PMG and Reckitt. Supported actions include one-click “add to cart” inside a brand’s Amazon storefront and non-Amazon calls-to-action such as “send to phone.” Samsung Ads says Samsung TV Plus reaches more than 100 million monthly active users and that interactive video with Amazon Ads produces higher brand searches, page views, add-to-cart actions and purchase rates. Samsung Ads executives framed the move as enabling full-funnel commerce outcomes for advertisers on CTV.
