Ringier Advertising

Ringier Advertising is a swiss media sales house for Ringier’s cross-channel advertising inventory.

Analyst Perspective

Ringier Advertising is the Swiss advertising sales operation for Ringier’s print and digital media portfolio, and it also appears to market selected external inventory. It sells advertising access across web, print, audio, podcasts, sponsorships, native placements and custom formats to advertisers, media agencies and programmatic buyers. The business combines direct media sales, programmatic booking, audience targeting and creative services to help brands buy placements across Ringier-owned media environments. It makes money primarily by monetising advertising inventory and related services. Revenue appears to come from direct media sales, auction-based programmatic demand, CPC-based native advertising, premium sponsorship packages, special-format placements and bespoke Brand Studio work. Its customers are businesses rather than consumers, chiefly brands, agencies and trading teams seeking Swiss premium media reach and contextual environments.

Analyst Signal Briefing

Updated: 6 Aug 2026

Ringier Advertising has formalised its sports monetisation strategy by appointing Annick Cochard as Head of Sports Sales & Strategic Partnerships to oversee a portfolio including Blick and the recently secured DAZN CTV inventory. This leadership transition complements the renewed commercial mandate for Swisscom’s Blue News, which introduced innovative ad formats following its technical relaunch. These developments, supported by the parent company’s launch of the OneDSP programmatic platform, consolidate the firm’s focus on premium digital inventory and programmatic targeting across the Swiss media landscape.

Category Differentiation

This is a Swiss media sales house and ad monetisation unit, not a standalone DSP or a general-purpose marketing SaaS vendor. It sells and packages publisher inventory rather than operating as a consumer media brand itself.

Ringier Advertising: About

The company operates a media sales house model built around monetising publisher inventory on behalf of Ringier and potentially selected third-party partners. It creates value by aggregating premium advertising supply across digital, print and audio channels, packaging that supply with first-party audience targeting, programmatic access and creative services, and selling it to advertisers and agencies. A smaller software-like layer exists through its self-service native platform, but the core model remains inventory monetisation and managed commercial packaging.

How Ringier Advertising Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

Ringier Advertising monetises primarily through the sale of advertising inventory across digital, print, audio and sponsorship products. Commercial mechanisms include CPC pricing for native campaigns, CPM and fixed-price placement sales for display and premium formats, negotiated package pricing for sponsorships and custom integrations, auction-based revenue from programmatic demand, and project-based fees for Brand Studio creative and content production. Data targeting appears to function as a premium value-add, likely bundled into media deals or sold as an upsell layer.

Blue News relaunches Swisscom portal with Livingdocs CMS

Blue News, the Swisscom-owned news portal, has relaunched its website and app with a redesigned user interface and a new content-management system from Livingdocs. The update replaces a fixed section layout with a dynamic navigation that prioritises highly requested topics and promises faster load times and closer collaboration across the German, French and Italian editorial teams. The relaunch expands the sports offering via a new "Live-Center" that consolidates livetickers, results, statistics and additional video formats. Claudia Lässer (CEO, Entertainment Programm AG) said the changes aim to keep users on the site longer and make the property more attractive to advertisers; Blue News plans new ad formats in cooperation with Ringier Advertising.
