This company is a market intelligence software provider for apps and games, not a consumer app publisher or a mobile advertising network. It is closer to app analytics vendors than to app store optimisation agencies or attribution tools.

AppMagic creates value by turning fragmented public and observed market signals into an accessible research workflow for commercial users. Customers pay for ongoing access to datasets, dashboards and analysis tools that support competitive intelligence, user acquisition planning, creative research and monetisation benchmarking.

Pokémon Go hits $9B revenue in 10 years

Pokémon Go has generated almost $9.1 billion in gross player spending across Google Play and the App Store over its first decade, according to AppMagic estimates. The AR mobile game celebrated its 10th anniversary on July 6, 2026; lifetime spending is split roughly $4.4bn on Google Play and $4.6bn on the App Store, with the US ($3.5bn) and Japan ($2.7bn) the largest markets. Scopely acquired Niantic's games team for $3.5bn in 2025 and is rebranding the studio to Scopely Explore. Niantic claimed the game had about 20 million weekly active players (10 million daily) as of March 2025. While estimated in-store spending has declined since the pandemic peak, Niantic says some monetisation shifted to the game's web shop rather than indicating falling engagement. Pokémon Go remains the fifth highest-grossing mobile game of the past decade.

Niantic games team rebrands to Scopely Explore

Scopely has renamed the Niantic games team it acquired for $3.5 billion to Scopely Explore, one year after the acquisition. Scopely said Scopely Explore is not a separate company or subsidiary and that the Niantic name will be phased to Scopely Explore across platforms over the coming weeks. Niantic Spatial — the spin‑off created during the deal — remains a separate business focused on its own technology and operating titles such as Ingress Prime and Peridot. The acquisition included major mobile AR titles including Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now. AppMagic estimates Pikmin Bloom has generated over $35m in player spending in H1 2026.

Scopely Invests in Studio Auknow

Scopely has made a strategic investment in Tokyo-based Studio AuKnow, a game studio founded in 2025 by former Umamusume: Pretty Derby content director Takuma Akitsu. Studio AuKnow brings together developers who worked on titles including Umamusume, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, Onmyoji and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and is developing original mobile and PC IP with a cross-media focus (anime, manga, music, live events). Scopely said it will support the studio by strengthening its technology foundation and sharing global expansion expertise; the investment amount was not disclosed. Scopely Japan president Keiichi Kawai framed the move as a long-term commitment to Japan.
