Apple updates EU app business terms
Apple has overhauled its App Store business terms for all developers distributing apps in the European Union, in coordination with the European Commission. The unified rulebook, available for acceptance now, takes effect October 1, 2026. It replaces the per-install Core Technology Fee and removes the Initial Acquisition and Store Services fees, introducing a 5% Core Technology Commission for transactions tied to apps distributed outside the App Store, plus reworked commission schedules for native in‑app purchases and alternative payment paths. The update permits alternative payments and external purchase links subject to presentation, duration and child‑safety rules, and expands permissions for alternative marketplaces while imposing notarization and financial‑stability requirements. Developers can review and accept the updated Apple Developer Program License Agreement today.
