How Fellow Channels Turn Scattered Meeting Recordings Into Searchable Team Knowledge

Meetings Become the New System of Record

An a16z opinion piece argues that AI is causing most workplace conversations to be recorded by default, creating a new "living company context" that AI agents can ingest and act upon. The author says voice-first enterprise software will emerge, as large language models convert unstructured meeting audio into structured, searchable knowledge that boosts individual productivity and gives executives top-down oversight. Examples cited include Bridgewater's long-standing recording practices and OpenAI's extensive recording use. The piece predicts the default will shift toward assuming meetings are recorded, with explicit exemptions for sensitive sessions, and urges companies and boards to build governance around this new context layer.
