Microsoft extends Windows 10 ESU to October 2027
Microsoft has updated its guidance for the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, extending consumer support until 12 October 2027. The company revised a blog post to reflect the extension and noted the announcement applies explicitly to private customers. In the European Union, ESU security updates have been offered free (provided the device is linked to a Microsoft account). Users already enrolled in ESU will continue to receive updates automatically; other customers can still register for the program. Market data from StatCounter shows Windows 10 remained on 26.2% of Windows desktops in May 2026 while Windows 11 reached 71.8%. The article was published by t3n and updated on 2026-06-29.
