Apple to allow less alarming ATT consent screens in EU
Apple has agreed to modify its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) requirements for apps in the European Union following a multi-year antitrust probe by Germany's federal competition regulator and other authorities. The new agreements allow EU-distributed apps to display an alternative consent screen with modified formatting, language, and additional information links, making the prompts less alarming. Changes include full-page screens instead of pop-ups, removing the word 'track', and changing buttons to 'Allow' and 'Reject'. These options are available only in Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and Romania. Regulators argued that ATT favored Apple's own ads business. Developers can also re-prompt users after one year.
Why AI Treats Publisher Content As A Commodity; Playing Your Credit Cards Right
This AdExchanger roundup covers the commoditization of publisher content by AI, the rise of near-premium credit cards, and McDonald's launch of its own media network. Brian Morrissey argues AI treats publisher content as raw material, leading to commoditization. Jon Roberts notes the supply chain for information is underfunded compared to chips and power. USA Today considers blocking Google's AI scraper. In credit cards, near-premium cards are growing, subsidized by retail media programs. McDonald's is launching its McDonald's Media Network, spanning physical footprint, aiming for a billion-dollar ad business. Early advertisers likely include credit card companies, ride-share apps, and media companies like Netflix and Disney.
JPMorgan Says Meta's Muse AI Agent Could Dominate Consumer AI
JPMorgan analysts, led by Doug Anmuth, issued a bullish note on Meta Platforms, stating that its AI agent, Muse, has the potential to become the most widely used consumer AI application since ChatGPT. The bank maintains an overweight rating and raised its price target from $820 to $920, implying 24% upside. Muse, launched earlier in September, runs on the multimodal Muse Spark AI model and has already connected with over 2,000 applications, including integrations with Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, and Wayfair. JPMorgan sees agent-to-agent interactions as a future monetization avenue, potentially through take-rate or commission models. The stock has surged 30% in September, on track for its best month since 2013. The report aligns with broader analyst consensus, with 57 out of 63 analysts rating the stock as buy or strong buy.
