Bonial Expands to Scandinavia via Tjek Majority Acquisition
Bonial Group, a subsidiary of Axel Springer, has acquired a majority stake in Tjek, a Nordic retail marketing platform, to strengthen its European market position. The acquisition expands Bonial's operations from Germany and France into Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, bringing its total footprint to six European markets. Tjek, founded in 2009 and headquartered in Copenhagen, operates digital platforms for retail offers and brochures, reaching approximately 2.5 million monthly users via its brands such as eTilbudsavis, Mattilbud, eReklamblad, and eTarjouslehdet. Financial terms were not disclosed. Tjek's management, including CEO Morten Bo and COO Jack Tolboe, will remain and retain ownership stakes. This move aligns with Bonial's strategy to expand its digital retail marketing services and advertising capabilities across Europe.
bonprix Expands Partner Commerce with DEICHMANN
bonprix, the fashion subsidiary of the Otto Group, is expanding its partner-commerce strategy by selling selected women's apparel on deichmann.de. The cooperation started with selected items in May 2026, added a seasonal Trachten capsule in August, and a further women's collection is planned for September, according to bonprix. The move is part of bonprix’s shift from a pure D2C focus toward a mixed distribution approach via a permanent "Partner Commerce" unit, evolved from the "Beyond D2C" program launched in early 2025. DEICHMANN gains the ability to offer outfits and larger baskets while bonprix accesses the retailer’s European reach. bonprix is already available via otto.de and ABOUT YOU, and is testing partner channels as a complementary sales pillar to its own shops and apps.
Axel Springer Launches Creator Program for Journalists
German media giant Axel Springer announced the launch of "Axel Springer Creators", a new program designed to support journalists in building and scaling their own media brands independent of established news outlets. Paul Ronzheimer, a prominent war correspondent, is the first participant and will leave his role as deputy editor-in-chief of Bild to focus on expanding his successful podcast "Ronzheimer" and developing new audio and video formats. The company will assist creators with production, technology, and marketing, offering them greater editorial and entrepreneurial freedom with a share of commercial success. This move reflects a strategic shift towards individual journalist brands, as highlighted by CEO Mathias Döpfner's previous comments on the growing importance of creators in the media landscape.
