Karin Grassl has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Blue Ocean Entertainment's 'PreSchool' and 'InSchool' divisions, overseeing 25 magazines including 'Prinzessin Lillifee', 'Bibi & Tina', and 'Lissy'. She succeeded Sandra Peter, who left the company of her own accord after 18 years. Grassl previously led the animal magazine division and had roles at Dino Entertainment and Panini Verlag. Additionally, Sven Röttger has been named Chief Digital Officer and Chief Technical Officer, a newly created position focused on technology and digital innovation. Blue Ocean, majority-owned by Burda since 2014, publishes 90 regular titles for children.
Burda Turns 'Lissy Pony' Into AI-Made YouTube Series
Burda Media is producing a generative-AI-driven YouTube series based on its girls' brand "Lissy Pony," partnering with Black Forest Labs and audio-AI vendor ElevenLabs. Burda (via its Blue Ocean Entertainment subsidiary) will use Black Forest Labs' new model Flux 3 for visual consistency across episodes and languages, while ElevenLabs provides consistent character voices and AI-assisted localization. The first episodes are scheduled to premiere in autumn on YouTube in German, French and Spanish. Burda positions the project as a template for using generative AI to scale IP, enable multilingual releases with less production overhead, and extend use cases beyond editorial properties into brand campaigns and new product development.
Six phases to true AI efficiency in agencies
MEEDIA published a framework by Tobias Hagenau (CEO of awork) that defines six phases of AI rollout in advertising agencies, based on interviews, workshops and survey data. The article reports that 98% of agency employees use AI daily but only 16% consider their agency truly AI-ready. The six phases move from individual, generic AI use through oral best-practice sharing, centralizing agency context, integrating AI with agency tools, building specialized agents, to a final 'agentic agency' state where multiple agents coordinate complex workflows. The piece stresses the need for centralized context, GDPR-compliant and LLM-agnostic infrastructure, and clear data separation and access controls to move beyond ad-hoc experimentation toward repeatable, team-level AI capabilities.
