Senior Software Engineer, Data Acquisition

Builds and maintains data pipelines and architectures, ensuring data quality and optimizing data processing workflows.

This Software Engineer will own engineering projects in data acquisition, including web crawling, data ingestion, and search for OpenAI's model training operations. The role involves developing highly scalable distributed systems handling petabytes of data, and deploying solutions in a Kubernetes Infrastructure-as-Code environment. The engineer will collaborate with Data Processing, Architecture, and Scaling teams, and work with legal on compliance matters.

This role builds and operates the infrastructure supporting OpenAI's research workflows, focusing on reliability, scalability, and automation. The engineer will work on cluster bootstrapping, data infrastructure, and debugging across networking, compute, and storage layers, while writing software to improve system reliability.
