This role leads complex end-to-end deployments of frontier models in production for strategic customers. The engineer owns discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout, working closely with customer engineering teams. This forward deployed engineer role partners with Strategic Project Leads to scope and build custom technical solutions for AI labs and product teams, turning fuzzy customer briefs into technical plans. The engineer will build capture flows, data pipelines, and delivery systems across web, mobile, and backend, while owning technical decisions and moving repeat builds into the core platform. Requires 7+ years of full-stack production experience, direct customer-facing work, and hands-on experience with AI coding agents and LLMs.

Owns end-to-end product surfaces with a significant focus on the new Digital Twins/Simulations Lab, a 0-to-1 product. Translates complex technical systems (models, data pipelines) into intuitive, trustworthy experiences for researchers. Works closely with founders, scientists, and engineering, using modern AI design tools like Codex and Claude Design alongside Figma.

Combines analysis with automation, using AI tools as a core part of the workflow to turn Outset's internal data into decisions faster. Answers recurring business questions across GTM, People, Product, and Engineering using SQL and Python, and builds small internal tools like scripts, Slack bots, and dashboards to eliminate manual reports. Requires 3+ years of experience, fluency in SQL/Python, and a builder's instinct for automating processes.

This Research Scientist role designs and runs studies to measure and improve the fidelity of Outset's digital twin AI systems, comparing their responses to real human behavior. The scientist will co-design experiments, develop performance metrics, oversee human rating studies, and apply advanced statistical techniques from survey methodology and computational social science. The role requires a PhD in a related field and involves co-authoring papers and specifying analyses for engineering implementation.
