This role designs and implements critical high-performance systems for FoundationDB, Snowflake's core shared-metadata database, to scale it by at least one order of magnitude. The Senior Software Engineer will build the next-generation transaction system, caching, storage engine, and multi-tenant capabilities, requiring a passion for large-scale databases and distributed systems with end-to-end project ownership.

This Berlin-based internship focuses on building enterprise-grade cloud software with hands-on experience in database internals, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. Interns will work on compiler design, query execution, and streaming pipelines using C++ and Java, with mentorship and potential for full-time conversion.

This role builds the next generation of Data Exfiltration Protection (DXP) and unified Data Movement Policies (DMP) for Snowflake's cloud security infrastructure. The engineer will design and implement core components, enhance ingress/egress controls, and unify Context-Aware Access policies with egress perimeter controls, while mentoring junior engineers and owning end-to-end delivery.
