Supply Chain AI Market: Dollar General Deploys AI Across Distribution and Stores

Dollar General is implementing artificial intelligence across its North American operations, partnering with Relex Solutions to unify forecasting, replenishment, and allocation planning. The retailer, operating 21,000 stores and 34 distribution centers, will use Relex's AI platform to manage store replenishment, ordering schedules, lead times, supplier coordination, and fulfillment methods. The platform integrates demand factors like sales patterns into planning, enabling distribution centers and stores to share consistent data. Jeff Vaughan, SVP of global inventory management, highlighted the enhanced visibility across the network. CEO Todd Vasos mentioned building agentic operating systems for the enterprise to optimize workflows and improve productivity. This move is part of Dollar General's broader AI strategy to mitigate cost pressures. Other retailers like Lowe's and Guitar Center have also adopted Relex technology for supply chain efficiency.
