HCLTech has completed its acquisition of HPE Telco Solutions, adding 1,400 specialists to accelerate AI-led network transformation and 5G monetisation. This follows the firm’s $150 million lead investment in Indian AI unicorn Sarvam to commercialise generative AI models for enterprise clients. These developments, alongside the launch of an Autonomous Finance Platform with Google Cloud and the inauguration of a 5,000-capacity delivery centre in Hyderabad, reinforce HCLTech’s strategy of scaling engineering capacity and integrated AI solutions across the telecommunications and financial services sectors.

Category Differentiation

This is the enterprise technology services company HCLTech, not a standalone cloud software vendor or a pure advertising technology platform. Its marketing operations work is an adjacent managed service within a much broader IT and digital transformation business.

HCLTech: About

HCLTech creates value by helping enterprises design, implement, modernise and operate core technology environments. It combines advisory, engineering, implementation and ongoing managed operations, then layers in proprietary platforms and accelerators to improve delivery speed and deepen client lock-in. Revenue is driven by long-duration enterprise relationships spanning cloud migration, application modernisation, AI deployment, security architecture, digital operations and campaign execution support.

How HCLTech Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

HCLTech primarily monetises through enterprise IT services contracts, managed services retainers, outsourcing agreements, project-based consulting, time-and-materials billing and outcome-based transformation engagements. Proprietary platforms such as AI Foundry, AI Force and cloud solutions are commercialised either as subscription or usage-based software components or bundled into broader implementation and managed service deals. Marketing and content operations services are monetised through scope-based service fees tied to resource levels, campaign volume and operational complexity.

HCLTech Completes Acquisition of HPE Telco Solutions

HCLTech announced the completion of its purchase of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Telco Solutions business on August 4, 2026, a deal first announced in December 2025. The acquisition follows HCLTech’s 2024 integration of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG) and adds approximately 1,400 engineering and telecom specialists across 39 countries. HCLTech says the deal broadens its telecom portfolio (OSS, HSS, 5G SDM, BSS, virtualization, edge and multi-cloud) and expands its presence across North America, LATAM, Europe and Asia Pacific. HCLTech executives framed the move as strengthening the company’s ability to help Communications Service Providers accelerate AI-led network transformation, autonomous operations, and monetization opportunities such as Network-as-a-Service and private 5G.

Sarvam Raises $234M, Becomes India AI Unicorn

Sarvam, a Bengaluru-based AI startup, raised $234 million at a $1.5 billion valuation in a funding round led by HCLTech, the company announced on June 15, 2026. HCLTech is committing $150 million as the lead strategic investor; Bessemer Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners also participated. Sarvam — which earlier in 2026 released open-source 30-billion- and 105-billion-parameter models — is targeting a $300 million Series B raise and plans to invest in next-generation models focused on agentic, coding and cybersecurity use cases. The startup reports large-scale usage across sectors (banking, insurance, government, defense) and says its platforms handle millions of daily interactions and API calls. Anthropic and TCS Partner to Scale Enterprise AI

Anthropic has formed a global partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to accelerate enterprise adoption of its AI models. Under the agreement TCS will create a dedicated business unit to deploy Anthropic models for customers across financial services, healthcare, telecommunications and aviation; gain early access to new model releases; and provision Anthropic’s Claude AI assistant to more than 50,000 TCS employees. The collaboration extends into TCS businesses and platforms — including Diligenta using Claude for customer service and process automation and TCS iON offering training and certification on Anthropic models — while TCS will contribute tooling to Anthropic’s Claude Code ecosystem. The move follows Anthropic’s broader India expansion and comes amid market concerns about the future of large Indian IT services firms as AI adoption grows.
