NFL Names U.S. Bank as Bank and Wealth Partner
The NFL has entered a multi-year partnership with U.S. Bank, making it the league’s bank and wealth management partner — the first standalone banking sponsorship in 30 years. The move follows Visa’s long-running financial-services deal ending in March, and the NFL has split its former single payments category into three separate partnerships. American Express acquired the payments-rights package (reported by SBJ at $910–$950M over seven years), while the NFL has not yet named a peer-to-peer banking partner (PayPal is reported as the favorite). U.S. Bank will launch a Financial Edge financial-literacy program for players and will serve as presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP award and a sponsor of the NFL Flag Championship. Financial terms for the U.S. Bank deal were not disclosed; the league said the combined new deals exceed the value of the prior Visa agreement.
