Seven. One Studios Licenses 500+ Hours, Uses AI for Localization
Seven. One Studios International has signed licensing agreements for more than 500 hours of ProSiebenSat.1 programming with multiple international YouTube aggregators and distributors. Deals cover factual entertainment, series and TV movies and involve partners including Spain's DubMe IO, UK-based Content Rocket, France's Zylo, Canal+ Distribution, Australia’s VA Media, Germany's Quintus Studios and Little Dot Studios. DubMe IO bought a package containing German TV films and series (including 'Think Big' and 'Der Bulle und das Biest') and plans to use AI-assisted technology to prepare localized versions in 30 languages for worldwide YouTube distribution. Little Dot Studios also secured FAST-channel rights, while several partners obtained AVoD and territorial rights for French-speaking markets, Africa and global uses. Tobias Schulze, SVP Global Sales at Seven. One Studios International, said rising quality of AI-based synchronization will remove language barriers to international distribution.
BBC Studios Innovates Ad Sales with Digital-First Strategy
BBC Studios is pursuing a digital-first ad sales strategy to expand its footprint in the U.S., emphasizing cross-portfolio audience connections across news, sports and entertainment. Jon Otto, SVP of ad sales for North America, said the effort centers on a redesigned bbc.com and app, packaging highly engaged "habitual audiences" for direct brand relationships, and using first-party data and contextual signals to target users across properties. The approach favors direct deals and audience-first activations (including transactional programmatic guaranteed) over chasing raw reach, while programmatic yield for event-driven spikes remains managed by the BBC’s UK programmatic team. BBC also launched a U.S. subscription model to deepen relationships with committed readers.
Broadcast Drives UK TV's $1B US Sales Boom
A Pact report highlighted by State of Streaming and Deadline shows U.S. sales of British television exceeded $1 billion for the first time in 2024, reaching $1.04 billion — a 34% jump for the U.S. market. The surge was driven primarily by traditional broadcast networks rather than streaming platforms: broadcasters accounted for about half of UK TV sales in 2024 while streamers made up roughly 33% of the total. Back-catalogue and library content have become more important, representing 44% of sales. The article notes streaming services’ programming moves (for example, Disney+ dropping Doctor Who) and warns that rising production costs and reduced commissioning finance at home could threaten the UK’s domestic production pipeline despite record export revenues (global UK TV exports exceeded £2 billion).
