MFE Buys 32.9% Stake in Impresa

MFE-MediaForEurope has taken another step in its pan-European expansion by acquiring a 32.9% stake in Portuguese media group Impresa for around €17.3 million. Impresa owns the SIC TV network and the Expresso weekly, and the stake broadens MFE’s cross-border footprint to Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Portugal. The deal includes a plan for collaboration on joint advertising solutions and a shared digital platform, with initial focus on advertising sales and the two groups’ digital properties. This move comes less than three months after MFE bought a majority stake in ProSiebenSat.1, underscoring a strategy to consolidate European media assets to better compete with US platforms. Impresa’s CEO Francisco Pedro Balsemão said the partnership reflects a shared vision around quality content, local production and technological innovation.
