NZZ launches 'FragNZZ' AI chatbot for subscriber queries
The Swiss media company NZZ has launched a beta version of 'FragNZZ', an AI-powered chat assistant integrated into its app and website. The chatbot answers reader questions about current events and individual journalists' contributions, drawing exclusively from published editorial content. Initially, the service is available to subscribers with 'NZZ Pro' or print/e-paper subscriptions with digital access. The knowledge base currently covers articles back to 2018, with plans to expand to the entire online archive since 1997. NZZ claims to be the first Swiss media house to make its journalistic content 'dialogfähig' (conversational). The feature aims to provide a new access point to quality journalism as AI changes how people seek and use information.
OneLog CEO Silvano Oeschger Departs, Jochen Witte Interim
Silvano Oeschger, CEO of OneLog AG, is leaving the company at the end of September 2026 to join the Axpo Group. He informed the board of directors in June. Jochen Witte, who has been advising OneLog since 2023, will take over as interim CEO from October 1. Oeschger led OneLog since its founding in 2021 as a joint venture of Swiss publishers TX Group, Ringier, NZZ, and CH Media. He oversaw the development of a shared login system that was used on over 40 online portals but was discontinued after Ringier's departure. Since 2023, he also drove the development of OneDSP, a Swiss advertising platform that reaches over 6 million users across more than 200 Swiss media titles. The board thanked Oeschger for his leadership.
NZZ Appoints Corine Blesi to Executive Board
Swiss media company NZZ is reorganizing its commercial operations by separating the subscription business (user market) from the advertising market. From October 1, Corine Blesi will lead the new 'NZZ Experience' division, which bundles advertising, events, and partnerships, and will join the executive board. The user market, focusing on subscription growth in Switzerland and Germany, will be led by a new hire, with Roman Bretschger serving as interim head. CEO Felix Graf stated the reorganization aims to focus on the different growth opportunities of the two business fields. Blesi, who has led NZZ Connect's conference business since 2021, will also oversee NZZ Academy, NZZ Live, Audienzz, and NZZone.
