German defense tech startup Ground A has emerged from stealth, announcing a pre-seed funding round of over €9 million led by Vsquared Ventures. The company develops the GA 1000, a compact counter-drone system that integrates radar, sensors, computer vision, and AI to detect, classify, and track drones, with laser effects for engagement. The system is designed for integration into existing air defense and command-and-control systems, as well as land, sea, and air platforms. Ground A plans to scale modular series production in Germany, with a next funding round targeted for 2027. Uplift Ventures launches €100M deeptech fund for European startups
Uplift Ventures, a venture capital firm, announced the launch of its inaugural €100 million fund dedicated to supporting European deeptech startups at the late Seed and Series A stage. The fund aims to address the financing gap for breakthrough technologies in areas like Physical AI, Energy, Enterprise AI, and Logistics. The firm plans to back up to 20 startups and select deeptech funds. Christian Noske joins as General Partner, bringing extensive experience from NGP Capital, BMW i Ventures, and Alliance Ventures. The fund is backed by industrial company Jungheinrich, which commits to a long-term partnership. Uplift Ventures will take flexible investment roles, acting as lead, co-lead, or participating investor. The team aims to support founders early, before category leaders emerge, and has already backed over 30 startups across multiple sectors.
DOD Solution Raises €1.8M for AI Drone Autonomy
Estonian-Ukrainian DefenceTech startup DOD Solution has raised €1.8 million in a pre-Seed funding round to accelerate the development and scaling of its AURA AI autonomy platform for unmanned systems. The round included participation from Angel One Fund, Better Angle, Defence Builder Fund, Network VC, Newfund, UAID Fund, WildField Ventures, and 4C-Next Holding AG, with Canadian drone company Draganfly joining as a strategic investor. The funding will support bringing the next generation of AURA SBC into production, advancing AURA OS and onboard AI capabilities, and accelerating integrations with unmanned platform manufacturers in Ukraine and international markets. The company aims to meet NDAA-compliance requirements to expand into European and North American markets. AURA AI has already been used in combat in Ukraine, providing autonomous navigation, perception, target recognition, and terminal guidance when GPS or communications are degraded.
