OpenAI Partners with Indian Colleges to Boost AI Education

OpenAI announced partnerships with six public and private higher-education institutions in India to integrate its AI tools and training into core academic functions. The initiative aims to reach more than 100,000 students, faculty and staff over the next year and focuses on campus-wide access to ChatGPT Edu, faculty training and responsible-use frameworks. Partner institutions named include the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi. Two partners — IIM Ahmedabad and Manipal Academy of Higher Education — will introduce OpenAI-backed certifications. OpenAI said India is its second-largest user base and that ChatGPT has over 100 million monthly active users in India. The company will also work with Indian ed-tech platforms such as Physics Wallah, upGrad and HCL GUVI to extend training beyond campuses.
