Meta's AI Spending Payoff with Muse and Enterprise Push
CNBC Pro contributor Stephanie Link argues that Meta's heavy AI investments are beginning to show returns, highlighting the rapid adoption of its new personal AI agent, Muse, with over 5 million downloads in its first 22 days. The article also notes Meta's expansion into enterprise AI, marked by the hiring of CJ Desai as chief enterprise platform officer, and partnerships with companies like OpenTable, Walmart, Best Buy, Spotify, and Ticketmaster. Link believes these developments, alongside Meta's existing user base of 4 billion, position the company for future monetization beyond advertising. Despite substantial capital expenditures projected at $145 billion this year and rising to $240-260 billion in coming years, Link sees the stock as undervalued, trading at roughly 20 times forward earnings. She concludes that Meta has the scale and resources to make these investments pay off over time.
SpaceX Seeks $40B Debt to Buy Nvidia Chips
SpaceX and Nvidia are advancing in AI infrastructure. SpaceX, now SpaceXAI, is negotiating a $40 billion financing package led by Apollo Global Management to buy Nvidia AI chips, including doubling chip count at Colossus 2 by December. The package comprises $10 billion in loans and $30 billion in bonds, with Pimco as a potential lender, expected to close by 2027. Meanwhile, Nvidia is in early talks to acquire AI startup Reflection AI, founded by former DeepMind researchers, which develops coding automation tools and recently launched the 'Beam' model. Nvidia has already invested $800 million in Reflection AI, valued at $25 billion. The deal could be a full acquisition, acqui-hire, or larger investment, with an acqui-hire possibly avoiding regulatory review. Investors remain cautious, with SpaceX shares dipping 2.5% recently.
