Sofinnova Partners Closes €82M Medtech Fund MD Start IV
European life sciences venture capital firm Sofinnova Partners has closed its fourth medtech fund, Sofinnova MD Start IV, at €82 million. Sofinnova plans to launch six to eight medtech companies through the fund over the next five years. The strategy combines clinical insight, entrepreneurial talent, and operational expertise to develop companies addressing unmet medical needs. The new fund follows Sofinnova MD Start III, a €63 million fund that invested across six companies, which collectively raised more than €140 million in follow-on financing. Notable portfolio companies include LimFlow, acquired by Inari Medical for up to $415 million, and PreCARDIA, acquired by Abiomed.
