Funding Market: Timefold raises $13M for AI planning APIs

Timefold, a Belgian software startup based in Ghent, has completed a $13 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Munich-based venture capital firm Alstin Capital, with Kompas VC joining as a co-investor. Existing investors Lakestar and Smartfin also participated. Timefold provides developer APIs for route and shift planning, using deterministic algorithms rather than large language models to ensure reliable and compliant schedules. The company plans to use the new capital to accelerate its expansion into the US market and speed up product development. Timefold reports that its annual recurring revenue quadrupled in 2025, with customers including NEC Software Solutions, CBRE, Lufthansa, Thales, Subaru, Orange Telecom, and ADP. CEO Maarten Vandenbroucke positions optimization as core infrastructure for increasingly autonomous software.
