Inspired by a Twitch stream of frontier models playing Diplomacy, Duffy observed that game-based training can teach transferable skills. The company's research shows that fine-tuning a model on the game Diplomacy improved its performance on customer support benchmarks, and training on the railroad game 1830 improved performance on a Finance-Agent benchmark. They sell data and learning environments to frontier labs, emphasizing that the design of the training harness significantly influences what skills models learn. While evidence supports that reasoning and goal-directed execution transfer, broader real-world transfer remains an open question.
