Matillion Appoints Girish Pancha as CEO

Matillion announced on 2026-08-05 that veteran enterprise data executive Girish Pancha has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and that Sanjay Krishnamurthi has joined as Chief Development Officer. The hires are positioned to accelerate Matillion’s Maia AI Data Automation platform, advancing product, engineering and go-to-market execution as the company expands its presence in Silicon Valley. Pancha brings experience from Oracle, Informatica and as founder/CEO of StreamSets (acquired by Software AG, later sold to IBM). Krishnamurthi’s background includes leadership roles at Informatica, Microsoft (Azure Data Factory and Purview) and Google (Data Integration and Governance). Former CEO Matthew Scullion will remain on Matillion’s board during the transition. Battery Ventures’ Dharmesh Thakker, a Matillion investor, praised the new leadership team.

Federal Push vs Local Pull on Robotaxi Regulation

Federal regulators and local officials are moving in opposite directions on autonomous vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a set of AV policy actions, most notably granting Zoox a temporary exemption from eight federal motor vehicle safety standards that clears a regulatory hurdle for paid robotaxi rides in Las Vegas. At the same time, Waymo and other robotaxi operators face increased scrutiny after incidents that interfered with emergency response and caused local gridlock in San Francisco. Rep. Kevin Mullin proposed legislation directing federal regulators to establish minimum national safety standards for AV operators. AegisAI Raises $36M to Fight AI Spear Phishing

AegisAI, founded by former Google security executives Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, has raised $36 million in a Series A led by Battery Ventures to defend against AI-driven spear phishing. The startup uses AI agents to analyze incoming emails for subtle anomalies that rule-based systems miss. Less than a year after launch, AegisAI reports adoption by dozens of customers, including Mesh, LangChain, and Lokker, and has now raised a total of $49 million in capital. Investors Accel and Foundation Capital participated in the round. The company plans to expand beyond email into broader areas of defense such as data security. The funding reflects investor interest in AI-driven defensive tools as email attacks increasingly leverage generative AI.
