IgnitionOne Raises $20M To Shop For Mobile DSPs And Social Ad Startups

IgnitionOne announced a $20 million investment round led by SoftBank, with ABS Capital Partners and Brown Savano also participating, to accelerate its strategy of acquiring mobile demand-side platforms and social ad startups. The round follows IgnitionOne’s March acquisition of data-management platform Knotice and will fuel continued M&A activity. The company, formerly a division of Dentsu-owned Aegis, now operates as a SaaS platform and employs about 450 people across 10 countries, deriving roughly 70% of revenue from SaaS contracts and 30% from managed services. Agencies including 360i and GroupM work with IgnitionOne for clients such as General Motors, Bridgestone, La Quinta, and Fiat. CEO Will Margiloff said social advertising could move toward a buying model similar to search platforms.
