smartclip

smartclip is a broadcaster-focused adtech platform for TV, CTV and digital monetisation.

Analyst Perspective

smartclip is a German adtech company operating within the Atresmedia group that provides software and managed services for digital and TV advertising monetisation. Its core offering is smartx, a proprietary ad server and supply-side platform built for broadcasters, publishers and media owners, with additional data management and campaign management capabilities. The platform is designed to unify linear TV, connected TV and web inventory so clients can manage programme-driven advertising and programmatic demand through one stack. The company makes money through enterprise software access, transaction-linked monetisation on inventory flowing through its platform, and managed advertising services. Its direct customers are businesses rather than consumers: broadcasters, publishers, advertisers, agencies and ad operations teams that need ad serving, yield management, audience segmentation and privacy-compliant campaign execution.

Category Differentiation

smartclip is a broadcaster-focused advertising technology provider, not a consumer video app or a pure media agency. It should also be distinguished from generic smart TV software vendors because its core role is ad serving, SSP infrastructure and monetisation.

smartclip: About

smartclip operates a B2B adtech model combining proprietary software infrastructure with managed services. It supplies ad serving, SSP and data management capabilities to broadcasters, publishers and other media owners, enabling them to monetise inventory across linear TV, CTV and digital channels. It also provides advertising management services for clients that want execution support rather than software-only usage. Value is created by consolidating fragmented monetisation workflows into a single platform with privacy-aware audience and measurement capabilities.

How smartclip Works & Monetises

Business model analysis and core revenue streams

smartclip monetises through enterprise SaaS-style licensing for access to its ad server, SSP and data tools, alongside transaction-linked take-rates or revenue shares on monetised inventory flowing through the platform. It also earns service fees from managed advertising operations and campaign execution, with additional value from analytics, measurement and data-enabled audience services.

Acheron builds ad infrastructure for AI chat agents

Acheron, a new adtech initiative from Bielefeld-based Boola GmbH led by Jörg and Kay Schneider, is developing an advertising infrastructure for chat- and AI-agent interfaces. The planned product comprises three modules: an SDK that analyzes user prompts with NLP and converts contextual signals into OpenRTB-compatible data; an ad server to connect demand via PMPs and direct deals focused on the supply side; and a Seller Agent intended to communicate with Buying Agents via the Ad Context Protocol (AdCP) for future agent-to-agent trading. Early direct integrations into chat environments are reportedly in testing, but Acheron has not disclosed partner names. The company aims to bridge existing programmatic demand (OpenRTB, deals, PMPs) with emerging agentic AI interfaces while addressing targeting and brand-safety concerns specific to conversational UIs.

Adform Opens Platform to AI Agents via MCP

Danish AdTech vendor Adform has made its programmatic platform accessible to external AI tools and agent workflows by exposing platform functions through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Advertisers and agencies will be able to interact with Adform via applications such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot or proprietary AI solutions. Adform says more than 800 platform functions will be available through the new access, spanning planning, forecasting, optimization, troubleshooting and reporting.
